LUKAS UND WALE
“Lukas und Wale” is an illustrated live radio play and concert for children and families. (Check the Swiss-German page for more detailed info on the project in the top right corner of this webiste.)
The radio play tells the story of the young Lukas and the old sailor Wale, who sail around the world together to discover jazz. Their adventurous journey takes them from Stockholm via Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, New York to Cape Verde. In each of these places they enjoy the magical music that Wale always talked about to Lukas.
To accompany the story, a live band consisting of saxophone, flute, vocals, guitar, piano, bass and drums plays compositions in the genre of jazz at each of these travel stations. For this occasion, illustrator Max Wuchner created eighteen child-friendly pictures, which are projected on a screen during the performance to illustrate the story.
The educational music project was written and composed by Pino Zortea and Tim Hüllstrung.
